Carr's Look at IT and Competitive Advantage

Nicholas Carr’s 2003 article on IT and Competitive Advantage opined that the availability of technology has made it less of a viable resource, including diminishing IT’s role in enabling companies to gain a competitive advantage through the use of technology and its tools.

I think it needs to be taken into consideration that this article was written seventeen years ago, and much has changed since that time. While I do agree with the premise that more of something can lessen its value, I believe that technology is somewhat immune to that theory, primarily because technology and its effects and uses are constantly changing.

It seems that the general consensus today is the IT does empower companies and organizations to gain competitive advantages when the resources available are fully accessed.
