  1. What are some of the similarities and differences of commercial and social marketing?
    Some of the similarities are skills, tools and tactics which are used for both social and commercial marketing. The main differences is with the objective of the marketer and his or her organization
  2. Have you ever worked on a social marketing campaign? Please share details.
    I have never worked on a social marketing campaign but I have worked with non-profits before on their board. We made decisions on how best to reach the audience “Public” and what topics our audience wanted to hear the most about.
  3. What sort of social campaign might you like to work on in the future?
    I would like to work on a NPO campaign for intercity kids who need the public to assist with after school learning. I believe this type of social marketing campaign is necessary to bring more awareness to the benefits of these types of programs.

**Unit 7 Discussion
1. What examples of crisis communications have you seen lately in the news? Can you find cases illustrating how both corporate and government officials dealt with crises?
The latest crisis communication the government has had to deal with started with the Baltimore killing of an African American by a police officer. The government has done a poor job of communicating with the public including not being timely with responses. The government has not followed basic crisis communication and in the end has created some serious ongoing issues for the community.
2. Think of a time you had to apologize for some offense you committed: what did you do well? What might you have done better?
One experience I had where I needed to apologize to a customer was when we converted them to a new system without notifying them. The next day the customer was unable to post their payments and caused a big issue with their customers. What could have been done better was proper notification with the customer through advanced emails and then a call to ensure they were ready for us to convert them to a new payment platform. We also should have immediately moved them back to the prior system rather than trying to make the current one work for them.
3. What you would say are the most important aspects of careful crisis planning?
I would say the most important aspects are finding out how each major task in the company would be performed if differently types of disasters took place. Next would be to insure that everyone in the company knows what steps would need to be taken for the area of responsibility. Each department would need to perform disaster recovery drills called table top exercises annually or every two years to make sure that the plan is still in working order. You also need to make sure that your communication plan is ready and in working order.

Unit 8 Discussion
1. What ethical issues do you feel are most often faced by public relations professionals?
I believe the ethical issue they face the most is how much of the truth should they tell. The public relations professionals have to juggle what is right with what they have been hired to do.
2. What are some practical examples of public relations ethics you have seen done well and poorly?
I have always been ethical with dealing with customers. I currently run a call center and have always made sure that the staff are honest and helpful with the customers who call us.
3. What did you gather from your codes of ethics research that might best apply to your own standards of conduct?
What I found that was of interest to me was how to run ethically sound PR campaigns and one of 5 tips was not to throw the competition under the bus. I see the quite often in the news and commercials so this one surprised me since very few follow that logic.

Unit 9 Discussion
1. Where in the world would you most like to work, and what kinds of public relations projects would you like to be involved with?
I prefer to work in the United States and not abroad. I am interested in working with Banking and want to be involved in assisting with employee relations projects.
2. What useful employment resources and job leads did you find in your research for this unit?
I found some great jobs in Washington DC for a Media and Communication specialist as well as other types of PR jobs in the DC area. If someone was willing to move to DC they would have a great variety of jobs that might interest someone who wants a job in PR.
3. Based on your studies in this unit, what words of advice would you offer to someone just starting out in a PR career?
My advice would be to make sure you are networking even after you get a job. Networking inside and outside of the company will be necessary in order to be success if this type of job. I would suggest finding a mentor either inside the company or outside that will give you great insight on being successful in the job. Learn your industry to you are supporting very well and continue to do research for you industry every chance you get. This is a high stress with lots of hours so be ready to give up some of your weekends in order to be successful.

Unit 10 Discussion
1. What social networks do you currently participate in?
I currently only participate in Facebook and Linkedin.
2. As you researched the offerings of the professional associations linked in this unit, what resources did you find especially useful?
Each one of the professional associations had a lot to offer and the resource that I found useful at this time was career resources and employers.
3. How do you feel networking may help improve your own career goals?
Networking is a great too and a necessary tool in order to be successful in any professional job but especially in a PR job. I feel networking already help me in my current job by allowing me to understand different views and get advice from a lot of different people with different back grounds. Networking has helped with my career and based on what I have read I need to do even more networking

officials dealt with crises? Police Brutality is a crisis of communication. Number of police shootings worldwide like the shooting of George Floyd.

Think of a time you had to
apologize for some offense you committed: what did you do well? What might you
have done better? Ive had to apologize to others in the place of my husband. I should have stepped back and let him handle that on his own.

What you would say are the most important aspects of careful crisis planning? A crisis communication team, The crisis communication team is responsible for collecting information, creating and disseminating key messages and working with the media. The team also monitors response to the crisis and crisis communication.

What are some of the similarities and differences of
commercial and social marketing? Commercial marketing and social marketing differ fundamentally in their purpose. Commercial marketers seek to influence purchasing decisions – most often for financial gain. Social marketers seek to influence behavior usually for the good of community or society. Yes we realize commercial marketing can have positive social effects, too, and Civilian helps businesses invest in.

marketing campaign? Please share details. I have never worked on this before. Marketing is not something i have been interested in.

What sort of social campaign might you like to work on in the future? Social Marketing is not something I would decide to work on but if I had to it would be to Invest in myself. I would create a social platform for myself to conduct my business professionally.
