I believe the most relevant aspect of digital citizenship is a digital footprint. This can lead to positive internet traces, for example an employer checking Face Book prior to an interview or position being granted, or perhaps lead to promotion of sorts from a portfolio being kept. This can of course backfire is the footprint generated is negative, deceitful, hateful or otherwise troublesome.

Digital rights and responsibilities, digital health and awareness, and digital security are relevant for tertiary learners because, they allow us to know the consequences of our actions, protect ourselves, and protect others online.
