Carr’s argument states that the broad availability of IT diminishes it’s competitive advantage - everyone has access there for it’s not special.
Do some independent research and explain the current thinking on the ability of IT to provide competitive advantage.
What is your position on IT and competitive advantage?
I think it’s less that IT itself can provide the advantage, but rather how businesses use it. A company that implements a system like Salesforce and does not take the time to learn how they can use it to their benefit doesn’t have an advantage. But a company that takes the time to learn not only what the tool can do, but what they want it to do, and then implements it has the advantage.
