The definition of message seems contradictory

I am reading the textbook ’ Survey of communication study’.

It defined message as the meaning that the sender wishes the receiver to understand. Then goes on to say that a message could be intentional or unintentional…

That sounds contradictory to me. If i intend for you to understand a particular thing then it is intentional is it not?

I do understand the message the receiver gets may not be what the sender intended… but that would be a result of ‘noise’, defined as anything that interferes with or changes the original message… not that the message was unintentional.

What do you think?

Try to create a description of an essay so that it was easier for you to separate the ideas, thoughts implemented in the text.

Thanks for responding Jack…
I’m not sure of what you’re saying though…
